Jack, the French weren't so much allies as colonial overlords..
Yes, you can historically game French regulars as well as Legionnaires vs the Japanese if you wish to.

Yea, you know the moment I posted that, I looked at it and thought to myself, "Yea, 'allie' just doesnt look right." Of course the French did seem to be a bit slow on accepting the idea that the age of 'colonialism' was past its prime. IIRC, after things fell apart there, they then found themselves dealing w/ much the same situation in Africa, Algeria to be more precise I believe.

'What if' battles can be half the fun in gaming, and if the two 'factions' actually had forces in the same area at the same time, it does lend itself to the realm of.. 'it was possible'.
On that note, theres also the Russian and Japanese during WW 2. Not a lot of fighting by any means compared to the entire war, but it did occur.

Moneybox,
The redone pic is much sharper. Great job, now its pretty clear that 'soldier' on the right IS armed with a shotgun.

Yep, about a fortnight at the very end as the Soviets rushed to grab as much of Manchuria as they could :)

Well IM getting this online just in 'under the wire', before the weekend passes.
Its my 2nd Impi, the first Black shield regt, made up of the younger unmarried men, that I built. I certainly hope these come out well. Later this week I hope to have my last (for now) 20 man regt pic's online.

Here's a couple of WGF based conversions I've been working on lately, in various stages of finish. And yes, I SHOULD have painted some stuff I've done over the last year or more by now...

Mrinku,
Im very interested in seeing that 'steampunk-ish' Victorian age woman with the 'elephant' gun once you get them painted up. Is the sniper/hunting rifle from one of the APOC survivor kits? All in all, really great conversions. These will look great I have no doubt.
And personal note, like you, I too really should have more done than I have in the past few months. I seem to be letting myself become more and more distracted these days.

Yeah. That one's the one the kid in the Men set is using, with the arms resized a little (you can't tell because of the putty sleeves).

Small correction - Safari Lady is a straight Victorian woman away from civilization, not steam-punky at all. Once finished she will have a properly sensible travelling outfit (plus elephant gun). I was somewhat inspired by similar minis at Wargames Foundry, but the type is not unknown to history.

Still having problems with the skirt folds on the safari lady. Might need to use brown stuff as I did on the ballgown - it makes sharper creases more easily. I think she needs some hair as well, maybe a low bun.

I've done a bunch more using other companies' plastics and the odd WGF part. But I don't want to promote non-WGF too much here - I've put some of them up on TMP.

Oh, there are a couple I haven't posted yet - using Amazons as space vixens and one of the Apoc girls as an Aerial Pirate Queen. THAT one is a bit steam punk, though only armed with a normal revolver and sword, so really more VSF than punk. Intended for Space:1889. The space vixens are for pulp SF.

And I'm still waiting for my American and German boxes - they were shipped a few weeks ago, but seem to have been caught up in the Christmas mail.

Most have been put up at one point or another. Mostly in the VSF forum.
