SIZE/SCALE: 28mm

SET DESCRIPTION: 15-Figures. Plastic. Both male and female . The Elves would be skinny and lanky. With tight fitting armor that wouldn't inhibit their mobility, and their armor should have lots of curves/form fitting nature to  it.  They could have plenty of spots on their armor where rubies and stones are embed. There should be arms in several poses (pointing, holding a weapons, etc.) Also their legs should be wide enough so that they can be mounted on horse like models.

EQUIPMENT: They should have three types of weapons. Long curved swords, kinda like scimitars. Large machine pistols that look like Draco's but less AK like. The Rifles should be just large versions of the pistols that must be held in both hands.

Why not make a separate Calvary set.  Also why do elves (space or otherwise) have to wear skin tight cloths, why not dress them up as Russian strelse with power axes and blaster rifles?

surprise... So, much for the strelse idea (out the window). I still want power axes that look like the strelse axe.
Yes they are good pictures and I do like them (my male hormones betray me dang it). I do think we should still look at other options like the strelse outfit idea (last ditch effort) for the sake of originality and kit bashing options. However, half naked space elf babes sell we just need to make sure their male counterparts are not in equally skimpy outfits, sexist as that may sound it is for the common good (just check out SF wizard proposal forum).

Yep I don't see space bimbos as a good selling point. Elves are supposed to be an elegant race.

Works just fine for GW from a sales point of view...

From a 'realistic' soldier point of view, I totally agree.
It still makes me do a bit of a laugh when I see any Japanese anime/pics. I never recall seeing a women that looked a day over.. if 20. And all were either very tightly dressed or barely at all.

Yea, sad but true. The trick is to try and get more "battle" and less "bimbo" in the warrior. Ironically, this recalls some of our earlier conversations on the Amazon warriors before they were released.

The axe I was thinking of is called a bardiche, it was used by the Russian streletes (I kept misspelling it as strelse, at least I think it is a misspelling) heavily during the renaissance. There was a proposal for streletes in the renaissance section of L&UL, but I am pretty sure it is dead, which sad since they could have fulfilled multiple rolls besides their original purpose, not to mention the kit bashing. I am going to try and put a picture up. image

Streltsy (Стрельцы́) for the plural, or Strelets (стреле́ц) for the singular. The bardiches were used to steady their muskets during firing, but were handy in close combat. They also carried sabers.

Less of a renaissance unit than a pike-and-shot era one, though they were a bit old-fashioned compared to western European troops. They were created by Ivan the Terrible around 1550 and their heyday was probably the 17th century. They were phased out by about 1720.

Personally, I have always thought of the pike and shot era as the tail end of the renaissance (at least militarily) since they were still using pikes and (to my admittedly limited  knowledge)  renaissance tactics, but I am not going to fight over it.
Back to subject, the reason I suggested making the elves into SF =11.0ptstreletes elves is that we don’t want them to look to much like that other company’s space elves for legal reasons (since they have ring writhes for lawyers), that and I think it would be cool to have Tsarist space elves. However, if we must steal other peoples ideas I think that there are better people rip off of (and by that I do not mean star trek). There have been many si-fi works that play with the idea of pointy ears in space, my personal favorite is the Holy Raalgon Empire from the “Irresponsible Captain Tylor” franchise (it was a Japanese book series that got turned into an anime). =11ptthe common Raalgon solders tend to be dressed in Flash Gordon storm trooper armor while the Raalgon officers and nobles have a  “male sensible/ female skimpy” Turkish theme going for them and may actually have a good reason for the sexist dress code since many of the male Raalgons are extremely effeminate in appearance.  Getting your superior officer’s gender wrong cannot only be embarrassing for all parties but possibly dangerous for you (at least for your military career).
